Tamiya Stratus

My new Tamiya TT-01E Dodge Stratus has now got some added details to give it a little bit better look.  I also took it for a run today since being upgraded.  It ran decent, and had a little glitching.  Unfortunately the fun was cut short with the pinion gear coming loose.  I haven't opened up the gear box yet to take a look or fix it.  Looks like I have an evening project this week to get it up and running.  I'll post up a picture later.

Some R/C updating

Over the past few weeks I've been making some slow progress on my R/C projects.  And this is my official update for them.

First off, the Tamiya TT-01 is ready to drive and is now a TT-01E chassis.  I finally got the body painted, stickered up, and mounted.

Now I just need to charge up a battery and hit the road.  Not sure how the drifting will do since I do have the stock road tires on.  Next upgrades are changing over to a 2.4gHz radio, a second set of wheels (probably black as black seems to fit with most paint schemes), drift style tires, and some lights.

Next car up is the HPI Micro RS4.  I decided to go with my desert paint scheme, but I had to change up the barbed wire stickers as the ones I like the most are no longer available.
I still don't have all the electronics setup for it, but hopefully I can complete it this week.  I do have some drift specific "tires" (made of hard plastic instead of rubber, so I should have lots of sliding), and a light set (just basic 2 white headlights and 2 red tail lights).  Its next upgrade will be moving to the 2.4gHz radio, and a replacement battery (the current one is old and I have yet to see if it will charge up).

Finally the HPI Racing Mini Desert Trophy Truck pictures.
Original body
New Ford F-150 body:
I have yet to run this one in the dirt, but that will happen soon.  This is available as a RTR only package.  The scale looks suckered me into the purchase.  The current upgrades are:
  • Futaba 4PL receiver to get the truck on 2.4gHz.
  • Futaba S3003 servo.  It has a little more torque than the stock servo.
  • HPI wheels and tires for the spare.  It came with faux spares.  While they look good, it just doesn't seem right running with fake spares.
And last up is my Tamiya DB-01 Durga.  With this being a 4wd buggy, bodies that fit are hard to find.  I actually had to go through the manufacturer to get a 2nd Durga body.  I haven't decided on colors yet, as my spray paint supply is currently limited.  Along with the body I picked up another set of wheels and tires.  The wheels are the kit stock (apparently non-dish type wheels are not very popular for buggies).  The tires are Pro-Line Racing Dirt Hawg III on the fronts and Dirt Hawg I on the rears.  As it turns out, even though I get more off road kits I tend to do a lot more on road driving.  The Dirt Hawg tires are good all terrains, so I can drive it on road, gravel/pebbles, and dirt.  Oh what fun!.

More pictures and video to come...some time.
