Touring Car

Well I haven't taken the opportunity to get a good picture of the HPI MTDT yet.

Before I get another new kit, I want to get some of my existing ones up and running again.  One of the revitalize/restore projects I have in the works is my Tamiya TT-01 Touring Car.

The first part is to disassemble.  Almost as much fun as putting together.  To help me out in the reassembly process, I used the manual to take it a part and put the parts into plastic baggies labeled with the step number referenced.  The only things not taken a part were the gear diffs.

(missing the old chassis from the picture, but I do have it)

I decided to update my TT-01 to the Type E (E for Enhanced) version.  This includes better shock towers, an upper brace, and better steering setup.  I also picked up some turn buckle steering tie rods and adjustable upper front/rear upgrades to add more adjust-ability to it, and a better screw set.

(Yes I got a new chassis as I have had issues with some of the screws stripping)

During the reassembly process I didn't take to many pictures.  So here is the only in-progress picture I have.

And here it is fully assembled.  I just need to get the new body painted and decorated, and get the car adjusted.

(HPI Dodge Stratus 190mm body)

For the electronics, I put in some older gear that I have:
  • Novak Rooster ESC
  • Airtronics Rival 75mHz AM radio set.
  • Airtronics high Power Metal Gear Servo Z (a little over kill with 115in-oz torque @4.8v)
  • Trinity Midnight 2 stock motor
So why the rebuild?  This is one of the few on road kits that I have.  I really should try to get most of my kits up and running before I try to get any new ones.  And I want to try out drifting.  I figure that since I already have a road car, this might be the cheapest way to try it out in 1/10 scale.  Plus the last time I was at the in-laws with my HPI MTDT, the nephews wanted me to get it to spin in circles.  An off road truck trying to do circles on the street?  Not very successful.  Let's hope the TT-01 is up to the task.

And as for drifting, there is a 1/18th scale road kit that I am also working on to get up and running/drifting.  But that's another project.

Blade mQX part 1

Well I've had this part 1 movie done for a bit, but just haven't gotten around to letting it out.  I got to thinking about my videos and that I should change things up.  Ryan from FilmRiot had made a suggestion regarding videos being used to show off your work.  I can't remember all the details and don't feel like searching back for the specific video, but he basically stated that you should just get right into the video and save all the credit stuff for the end.  So this is what I am going to try doing...with the next video.  For now, here is another one of my R/C videos.

I'm also going to start including the apps used in the credits as sometimes I forget all that I use during the editing/post production process.
